This is the the Rolair AirStak, a 1.6 gallon air compressor built into a Systainer T-Loc tool box.
Judging by the specs, the Rolair AirStak is a fairly capable compact compressor bundled in a popular modular stacking tool box form factor.
Specs
- 1HP
- 1.6 gal capacity
- 2.0 CFM at 90 PSI
- 70 dBA noise level
- Weighs 28 pounds
- 8A power draw (running)
The new Rolair AirStak Systainer compressor looks similar to Senco and Schneider models that have been available in Europe.
If there’s interest, I can try to dig deeper to see how the AirStak might differ from other similar-looking Systainer air compressor models.
What’s curious is that there was a Cadex Systainer tool box-based air compressor that was announced a little more than a year ago, but it seemed to have never made it to market. Maybe there’s a company that has patent protection over this type of design, or something of the sort.
Rolair is a good brand when it comes to portable air compressors.
Having an air compressor in a form factor like this will cost you quite a bit more than if you were to buy a model with a more traditional design. Consider Rolair’s JC10, for example. The JC10, currently $290 at Amazon, has a 2.5 gallon air tank, 1HP rating, and delivers 2.35 CFM at 90 PSI.
But if your work is centered around Festool or Tanos Systainer tool boxes, having an air compressor fit to the same form factor can save you a bit of time in how you work or move your tools and equipment around. Saved time or effort comes at a price.
