Over at Home Depot, their PRO Black Friday 2017 Savings event kicked off today. The deals are valid in-store and online, while supplies last, effective thru 11/29/2017.
Some of the deals are repeated from last year, others are new for this year. Some of the deals are more noteworthy than others, but I’ll try to discuss as many as possible.
There’s a flood of deals on the page that’s supposed to be limited to the Pro Black Friday deals, and it’s hard to sort through, but I’ve added it anyways, just below. Keep in mind that not all of them might be on the sales floor at your local store. There are 624 products listed in that sales event page, but maybe only 2 dozen Pro Black Friday-specific displays at my local store.
There’s a Bosch 12-piece Daredevil spade bit set on sale for $10. It’s technically a 10-piece set, but they threw in 2 additional blades for free, so you get 12 blades for $10.
Home Depot also has a “gift center” set on sale now – an 18pc set including case, for $20. This set doesn’t have a case, but unless you need the 6 other sizes, this set’s the better deal.
I bought 4 sets, because spade bits are great for testing drills. I’m sure I already knew this at one point, but the packages surprised me by saying the bits are impact-rated. Even better.
Price: $10
Dewalt’s DW745 portable table saw is on sale for $299. Big whoop. The same saw is also on sale for $299 at Amazon right now.
Oh, this is the DW745S, which comes with a folding stand. That definitely changes things.
Price: $299
A couple of readers wrote in about this new Makita XT706 18V 7-tool cordless power tool combo kit that was heavily promoted via Makita newsletter this morning. It’s now $399, with “$100 savings from $499.”
*Rolls eyes.* This set was designed around the $399 price point. Why do I think this? Because it hasn’t been on the market for very long, there are no reviews anywhere, and because that “special buy” pricing is what a lot of tool brands do this time of year.
Skeptical, I started looking at the tools you get. The biggest thing I could criticize is the non-LED worklight. But the other tools? They look to be regular Makita products, not specially slimmed-down entry-level tools. Well, except for maybe the drill and impact, but Makita’s seasonal tools have been fairly good in recent years.
This definitely DOES look to be a good buy, if you’ve been meaning to pick up a combo kit and have had your eye on Makita’s 18V lineup.
It’s priced at $399 at Home Depot, Amazon, and likely elsewhere.

There’s a different (newer?) tile saw on sale this year, model R4021. I’m even more tempted than I was last year, but I don’t have any tiling projects coming up.
Price: $99
Ridgid OF60150HA 6 Gallon Pancake-Style Air Compressor: $99
I thought this was a new model for this year, but apparently it came out last year for the 2016 PRO Black Friday sales event. *shrug* Still looks good on paper, and in the images it looks to have a nice and narrow footprint.
Quick Specs:
- 150 PSI
- 12 Amps
- Air Delivery: 3.5 SCFM at 40 PSI, 2.6 SCFM at 90 PSI
- 6 Gallons air capacity
- Oil-Free
- 2 universal quick couplers accept 1/4″ automotive and industrial fittings
Milwaukee’s Packout 3-tool box combo stack is back to being on sale for $199. My local store had 1 out on display when I checked mid-day.
Price: $199
This Ridgid R350RHF round head framing nailer is on sale again, for $169.
This Milwaukee Shockwave 23pc RedHelix drill bit set is on sale for $18. It’s a good deal for decent drill bits. They’re not my first choice for use with a drill, but I’ve bought a couple of sets these past few months for tool testing, and they haven’t let me down.
Price: $17.50
There’s MORE to come, I just wanted to make sure everyone was made aware of the sales event. I have some photos to add, and additional tools to list.
The deals are available in-store and online. There weren’t many of the Dewalt table saws at my location, and only one Milwaukee Packout stack that I can see. If your store shows little inventory of something you want, you might want to order online for in-store pickup, or save yourself the trip and opt for free delivery.
Smaller things, like the Bosch bit set, ship free with a $45+ order.
Again, this is the link they set up for this sales event, but there are other “gift center” seasonal deals included. I’ll try to get the rest of the Pro deals up tonight so that you don’t have to sort through several hundred deals to find the ones that are being emphasized this week.
Part II
They had this Diablo 2-for-1 Ultra Finish 60T 7-1/4″ blade pack. I believe it said they’re made in Italy. I can check later, I bought a pack. It seemed like too good of a deal to resist! I tend to like using fine-finish blades, and the deal convinced me to give this blade a try.
Price: $20
The same blade is $20 at Amazon for 1, assuming D0760R and D0760X blades are the same but with different packaging.
This Dewalt 25′ and 16′ tape measure 2-pack is $20. It looks to have the same SKU as the single tape pack, which means I’d be reluctant to buy it online except for in-store pickup.
Price: $20
This Diablo 9pc bi-metal and carbide-tipped hole saw set is back, and for $40. I’d consider it more of a “try Diablo” set, and it comes with a quick-looking arbor.
Price: $40
This entry-level Dewalt 20V Max drill and impact driver combo kit (DCK240C2) is on sale for $149. It’s the same price at Amazon.
There’s a Dewalt DW1KIT18PP 6 gallon air compressor and brad nailer starter kit, for $179. They had quite a few of these sets at my local store.
Price: $179
A Ridgid 16 gallon 6.5HP Peak wet/dry vac is on sale for $99. This one’s “built for the pro,” and features large cart-style wheels.
Be sure to check the model number and features if you buy in store! My local HD had the wrong vacs out on display in place of this one.
Price: $99
There were a few Milwaukee deals, but only one stood out as being a good deal – this M12 Hackzall kit. While at the same $99 deal price it’s been at before, it always seems like a good value.
Price: $99
There’s a new version of the Ridgid Super Clamp. It’s $99 online, but my local store had $89 signs.
Price: $89-99
Here’s a look a the new model next to one from a few years ago. The new one looks good. If I didn’t already have a great Rockwell Jawhorse test sample that’s been serving me well, I would definitely have taken one of these Ridgid Super Clamps home.
The Jawhorse is currently on sale at Amazon for $102 with free shipping.
I’m really wondering if the Ridgid Super Clamp is easier to set up and fold down than the Jawhorse. The new Super Clamp looks to have cam-action leg locks, at least in the rear, while the Jawhorse has a large knob that I sometimes wish was easier to tighten down.
This Porter Cable 16 gauge straight finish nailer is on sale for $119. It’s the same price at Amazon. User reviews seem to be very mixed. I’d urge caution.
Price: $119
Which Deals Are You Buying?
I came home with some new Bosch spade bit and Diablo circular saw blades. I’m tempted to go back for some Milwaukee drill bits and Shockwave screwdriver bits.
